The University of Auckland Mooting Society was founded in 2013, aiming to facilitate and develop mooting at the University of Auckland law school, one of New Zealand's most respected and successful law schools. A group of five passionate students wanting to improve the way mooting was facilitated and promoted saw an opportunity to get more students involved in one of the most important skills that they could learn, and started the society. For its first full year, membership to the society will be free. The benefits of the society are immense, including entering mooting competitions, seminars, social events and access to a large number of resources to improve members knowledge and ability.
To the best of our knowledge, the mooting society is the first of its kind at any of the New Zealand law schools. The society is run by an executive committee with seven different roles. Profiles for our ten executive members for 2020 can be found below.
